The tourism department of Kerala has decided to update the road sign boards of Kerala including new areas of tourist interest. This process was last initiated by tourism department in year 2005 and the colour of sign board is remaining green. National Transportation Planning and Research Centre (Natpac) has been assigned with project. The cost of this project is likely to be 25 lakh and it will complete in a year. Natpac has suggested to the tourism department the distances between sign posts on all major highway is now 10km and it will replace with 5 km margins. And Natpac also suggested for map indication about hospital ATMs etc. at Kovalam and Varkala at entry points and major junctions of these locations.Tourism department add new location every year, the progress of a comprehensive sign strategy will link more tourist to destinations and enhancing visitor awareness in the state
