Golfing in India

Golf has been introduced to India by the British and India is the second country which got golf courses for this prestigious game after Britain. The colonial golf courses of India are proud to host several golf tournaments and the first golf course in India is the Royal Calcutta Golf Club established in 1829 and it is the first club outside Britain. This Golfing in India tour package covers some of the oldest golf courses of India. While playing golf in this club you feel the beauty of the natural environ and the memoirs of the colonial India.

Day 1: Arrive in Delhi

Light and Sound Show at Red Fort - DelhiReceiving you at the airport Go Heritage India Journeys representative will transfer you to the hotel. Take rest at the hotel. In the evening you will be taken to the Red Fort for the Light and Sound Show Programme which dramatizes the history of Delhi. Then dinner will be served to you at an exotic dining venue. Stay overnight.


Day 2: Delhi

Delhi Golf Club After breakfast, you will be taken to the Delhi Golf Club located near the historical Lodhi Garden. It is 18 holes golf course and it was redesigned by the golfer Peter Thompson in 1977-78. This golf club hosted the first ever golf tournament at the Asian Games in 1982. There is a nine hole B course for the beginners.

Then rest at the hotel. In the evening you can explore the markets of Delhi. You will get everything-the latest fashion wears and formal wears. After drink and dining, stay overnight.

Day 03: Delhi

On the 3rd day of India Golfing tour, you set out your sightseeing in Delhi. First pay tribute to the Father of Nation at his Raj Ghat Memorial. Explore all the monuments of colonial Delhi like the Mughal Garden, India Gate, Rastrapati Bhawan and the monuments of pre British India like Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, Laxmi Narayan Temple, etc.

Post lunch, tour Old Delhi, a faded colored city with full of life. Explore the giant Red Fort, and Jama Masjid.

Day 04 : Delhi - Chandigarh (flight)

Take the flight to Chandigarh. The first planned city of India, Chandigarh is the capital for the states- Punjab and Haryana. It is known for its architecture and urban planning.

On arrival take the hotel. After getting refreshed, explore the modern architectural marvels of the city. This city tops in India in per capita income. After dinner, stay overnight.

Day 05 : Chandigarh

Have breakfast at the hotel. Then proceed to the Chandigarh Golf Club. The full construction of the golf club was completed in 1983 which covers 132 acres of land. Play golf here.

The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight will be at Chandigarh.

Day 06 : Chandigarh - Shimla

Post breakfast, drive to Shimla, the hill station of Himachal Pradesh. Known as the Queen of Hills, this hill resort of India is perched at a height of 2128 meters above sea level. The pine forest, rhododendron, oak form a canopy and the adjacent colonial architecture echoes the British rule. This was a summer resort for the British. This hill resort is named after the Shyamala Devi temple, the deity is an incarnation of goddess Kali.

On arrival, take the hill resort. Savor the beauty of Shimla. Today enjoy the view of the greenery and mountains peaks.

Day 07 : Shimla

Shimla Post breakfast, proceed to the Shimla Golf Course located at Naldehra about 23 kms from Shimla. This golf course is of 9 holes. Play golf at this soothing environ. Then come back to the hotel. In the afternoon, explore the colonial architecture of the city. After dinner, stay overnight.

Day 08 : Shimla - Delhi

Today take the train to Delhi. On arrival you will be transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Take spa massage at the hotel to rejuvenate your mind and body.

Day 09 : Delhi - Kolkata

Royal Calcutta Golf Club Take the flight to Kolkata. This city of India was a major hub of the British and it was the main capital of the British Trade. It houses the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, the oldest golf course of India.

On arrival take the hotel. Afternoon, visit Victoria Memorial, and the churches and temples of the city. After dinner, stay overnight.

Day 10 : Kolkata

Post breakfast, proceed to Royal Calcutta Golf Course. The first golf course in India that was established by the British. Located amidst the surroundings of shrubs and trees this colonial Golf course will thrill anyone at first sight. It is an 18 holes course. After playing golf return to the hotel for rest.

In the late afternoon, visit a beach of Kolkata and soak up in the spirit of City of Joy.

Day 11 : Kolkata - Chennai

Take the flight to Chennai. On arrival take the hotel. In the afternoon, visit the monuments of Chennai. This city of India houses temples, churches and other colonial monuments. Explore all the attractions and visit the Marina Beach, one of the cleanliest beaches of the world. After dinner, stay overnight.

Day 12 : Chennai

Post breakfast, head towards the Madras Gymkhana Club founded in 1886. It offers a challenging game. The course is well-maintained and the design of the course is unique and different from other courses. Play golf here.

Return to the hotel and take rest.

Day 13 : Chennai

Today, an excursion tour will be guided to Mamallapuram city located along the shore of Bay of Bengal. Tour all the monolith temples and the Shore temple.

Return back to the city and in the evening hang out in a beach. Have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 14 : Chennai - Coimbatore - Ooty

Take the flight to Coimbatore and then drive to Ooty, a popular hill resort of south India. On arrival take the hotel. Dinner and stay overnight.

Day 15 : Ooty

After breakfast, drive to the Ooty Golf Course, the most scenic courses of India. Golfing here is a little bit tiring; if you are a beginner just try only 09 of the 18 holes.

Explore the Ooty hill station. Dinner and stay overnight.

Day 16 : Ooty - Bangalore

Today drive to Bangalore, the Silicon Valley of India. On arrival take the hotel. In the afternoon explore the garden and other attractions of the city. Have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 17 : Bangalore

Post breakfast, proceed to Bangalore Golf Club. It is an 18 holes golf course. You will be surprised that sometimes the Bangalore crow picks up the ball. So the logo of the club shows a crow with a ball in its beak.

Laze at the hotel. After dinner, stay overnight.

Day 18 : Bangalore - Mumbai (Bombay)

On the 18th day of Golfing tour to India, take the flight to Mumbai. On arrival take the hotel and in the evening drive past the Marine Drive. After dinner, stay overnight.

Day 19 : Mumbai

Have breakfast at the hotel. Then proceed to Bombay presidency Golf Club, This golf course was also redesigned by Peter Thompson. The sea breeze may deceive you. The 5th hole is the most changeling one.

Afternoon, visit the Gateway of India, Prince of Wales Museum, Hanging Garden, and other attractions.

Day 20 : Mumbai

After breakfast, an excursion trip to Elephanta Island to explore the caves of Elephanta. In the afternoon, tour the Bollywood Film city. Then visit the market for shopping. After dinner, stay overnight.

Day 21 : Departure Mumbai

On the last day of India golfing tour, we will bid farewell you at Mumbai airport.
