Day 1: Delhi - Jaipur (258 kms/5 hours)
On the first day of our enchanting Maharaja and Mountain Kingdom tour package, we will drive up to Jaipur in a private vehicle. On reaching Jaipur, our GHIJ representative would arrange for your stay in a family run hotel, where you would come across traditional hospitality which is unique to the land of Maharajas, Rajasthan.Jaipur, also known as the Pink city is a wonderful place to kick start your tour to the country. A centre of culture, Jaipur would let you meet the true Indian lifestyle which has everything from priests, temples, sari clad women, camel carts, elephants, forts and palaces and much more. Spend overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Jaipur
On a guided tour to the Pink City, we take you out on a trip to this beautiful city. Visit the City Palace, Jantar Mantar a solar observatory, and Palace of Winds or the Hawa Mahal. In the afternoon, we go up to the majestic and imposing Amber Fort, located just outside the city. An enchanting view of the city and rocky hills surrounding the city is what you would love to get from here. Stay overnight in the hotel.Days 3: Jaipur - Pushkar (132 kms/2 hours)
Today on your India tour, our GHIJ representative would drive you up to Pushkar in a private vehicle. A sleepy town, this beautiful place sits on the bank of a verdant and tranquil lake. Spend night at a palace hotel with a wonderful view of the lake.A picturesque town in the desert state of Rajasthan, Pushkar is famous for its lake, lively market places, bustling restaurants, and the rituals that can be seen taking place at the temples or the bank of the lake.
Days 4: Pushkar - Udaipur (302 kms/8 hours)
We drive up to Udaipur today. Known to be the most romantic town of Rajasthan, Udaipur is famous for lush hills, white palaces and blue waters of the lakes located here. Check in at a heritage hotel on the bank of Lake Pichola and savour the beauty of the lake.Days 5: Udaipur
Today have plenty of time to explore the city of lakes, Udaipur. We suggest you should either go on foot or should take a rickshaw. A city plan has been laid out for you in the morning today which is sure to give you immense understanding of the city. Visit the famous City Palace known for its intricate murals and motifs, Jagdish temple and the Lake Palace.Take the second half of the day for wandering around the historic centre with the shops selling fabrics and local crafts. On seeing the city with such a close perspective, you will definitely fall in love with this place which is as such famous for being a favourite destination for love birds in Rajasthan.
Days 6: Udaipur - Jodhpur (266 kms/6 hours)
On the sixth day of the itinerary, we start early in the morning and drive towards the historic Jodhpur city. The journey to this Blue City would take around 6 hours. Don’t forget to stop en route at the Ranakpur Jain temples, located in a beautiful green valley.Home to the famous Mehrangarh fort, Jodhpur in Rajasthan is another major highlight of your tour to India. Wander around the city and shop something from the shopping hotspots at the Sojati Gate, Tripolia Bazaar, Mochi ki Gali and Lakhara Bazaar. Spend the night at an authentic and traditional Rajasthani Haveli in the old part of Jodhpur.
Days 7: Jodhpur - Jaisalmer (300 kms/6 hours)
Cross the Great Indian Thar Desert and drive up to the beautiful and rustic city of Jaisalmer. At noon, you would truly be delighted to see the golden sand dunes shimmering like a mirage. You would be dropped at the entrance of the ancient walled fort with a dozen towers. Go on a spectacular camel safari with a GHIJ representative and a guide from the camel drivers caste.You would truly be enchanted to see the imposing Havelis and beautiful Jain temples at this rustic and traditional city encircled by thick walls. Explore this beautiful city in the afternoon and in the evening, enjoy a good meal at a restaurant in the old centre. Stay overnight at original golden sandstone Haveli which would depart you to the bygone era.
Days 8: Jaisalmer
Today, we go on for a guided tour to the old city. In the narrow streets of this city, you will see the original and rustic culture which provides uniqueness to this city. Old imposing Havelis, Jain temples, interconnected palaces and Gadi Sagar Lake are definitely going to leave you awestruck. Don’t be surprised to see a camel walking the streets of the city.Days 9: Jaisalmer - Jaipur (571 kms/13 hours by train)
Spend a few hours in the morning to wander around the beautiful city of Jaisalmer and then take an overnight train to Jaipur which starts late in the afternoon.Days 10: Jaipur
We arrive at the Pink City early in the morning. After checking into the same family-run hotel, take the rest of the day for a sightseeing tour in the city. Famous for jewelry and textiles, Jaipur is truly a shopper’s delight. Don’t forget visiting the ethnic village resort, Chokhi Dhani. Celebrating the traditional Rajasthani culture, Chokhi Dhani gives you a peep into the rustic culture of the state which is so unique that thousands of domestic and international travelers arrive here to get a feel of this culture.Days 11: Jaipur - Agra via Galta - Bharatpur and Fatehpur Sikri (232 kms/4 hours)
Today, we leave the Pink City and head towards the city of the Taj, Agra. Once you leave Jaipur, you will first reach Galta, a pilgrimage site that draws countless pilgrims due to its holy water, which is said to be derived from the holy river Ganga.From Galta, drive for another 3 hours to Bharatpur and take a rickshaw or a bicycle ride at the Keoladeo Ghana National Park. Perhaps the most famous bird sanctuary in the entire country, this sanctuary witnesses the arrival of hundreds of species of migratory goose.
Another major attraction en route to Agra is the famous Fatehpur Sikri, an ancient Mughal capital; this town was built by the Mughal emperor Akbar. However, later capital was shifted from here due to acute scarcity of water. The architecture of the palaces, temples and old houses are definitely going to enchant you. After visiting this ancient town, reach Agra and check into a luxury hotel. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Days 12: Agra
After having a sumptuous breakfast, visit the two most impressive sites. First visit the Taj Mahal, perhaps the biggest attraction of an Indian tour. Seeing this building in the first light of the day will just leave the spectators thrilled and overwhelmed by the grandeur experience. Built by Shah Jahan in loving memory of his wife, Taj is the epitome of love and emotions.After visiting the Taj, we next head to the Agra Fort. This rustic fort looks massive in the afternoon light. Revisit past at the galleries and arches of this massive fort. Return back to the hotel for a lavish lunch.
After a tiring day of sightseeing at the Taj and the Agra Fort, take the rest of the day off and relax by the poolside.
Days 13: Agra - Orchha (212 kms/3 hours)
Bid adieu to Agra and after having the first meal of the day, start for the next stop in India and Nepal tour itinerary. Reach out to the railway station and board a train for Jhansi. After arriving at Jhansi, our GHIJ representative would assist you in reaching Orchha which would take another half an hour. The town famous for its temples, Orchha is a beautiful town located on the banks of the Betwa River. After an eventful day of sightseeing at Orchha, fall asleep at a luxury hotel in Orchha.Days 14: Orchha - Khajuraho (178 kms/4 hours)
In the morning today, we drive up to the quiet town of Khajuraho. After arriving here, visit the western group of temples which are famous for their erotic images from the Kama sutra. These temples are almost 1000 years old and still are surprisingly in a good condition. Stay in a comfortable guest house in Khajuraho.Days 15: Khajuraho - Varanasi via Satna (386 kms/11 hours)
Early in the morning today, get transferred to Satna from where you board a train to Varanasi. This entire journey would take you around 11 hours. On arriving at Varanasi, you would be transferred to a comfortable guest house. You can spend some time today taking a stroll at the ghats of the holy river Ganga.Days 16: Varanasi
Just remember, the best time to take a boat out in the holy waters of the river Ganga is just before dawn. See numerous pilgrims bathing in the holy waters of this river. Following the boat ride is the walk through the old centre of Varanasi. Spend overnight at the guest house.Days 17: Varanasi - Delhi via Sarnath (794 kms/13 hours by train)
Today, we will start early and reach out to the famous Buddhist pilgrimage of Sarnath. It is believed that Lord Buddha preached his first sermon here in Sarnath after attaining divine wisdom. Each Buddhist country has its own temple in Sarnath. Beside this world heritage site, the town is small and tranquil. After exploring Sarnath, we will drive back to Varanasi and will board a train from Varanasi in the evening for Delhi. Spend overnight in the train.Days 18: Delhi - Kathmandu (1063 kms)
Today, after arriving in Delhi, our GHIJ representative would take you straightway to the Indira Gandhi International Airport from where you board a flight to Kathmandu, for the next phase of our journey into the Mountain Kingdom, Nepal. Upon arrival at Kathmandu, you would be transferred to a luxury hotel in the city where you would spend the rest of the day relaxing and making preparations for the journey ahead. Spend overnight at the hotel.Days 19: Kathmandu
On the first day of our Nepal trip, we would go for a sightseeing tour to the Kathmandu city and valley. An English speaking guide would accompany you to make your trip easier. Begin your trip with a visit to the Kathmandu durbar square which is the seat of the king of Nepal. From here, we head to the Pashupati Nath temple and Swayambhunath. Soak up in the religious offerings at these places and feel exhilarated at being here. Next, we head to Boudanath stupa, which is one of the largest stupas of the world. Stay overnight at a hotel.Days 20: Kathmandu - Bhaktapur - Patan - Kathmandu
With a GHIJ representative, we start our journey to destinations outside Kathmandu today. This trip would include visit to towns like Bhaktapur and Patan. You can also opt for an excursion tour to Nagarkot and Dhulikel. Return to Kathmandu in the evening and spend overnight at the hotel.Days 21: Kathmandu - Chitwan (185 kms/5 hours)
We start the drive towards the Royal Chitwan National Park which is our next destination in this trip. Grab some lunch and freshen up after arriving at Chitwan. Go for an elephant safari in the afternoon. Rest assured, this trip to the national park would be cherished long in your memories.Days 22: Chitwan National Park
The beauty of Chitwan is at its best at the time of dawn and this is perfect time to visit the national park. Start with a guided tour to the jungle, hike through the narrow paths here and indulge in a few more jungle activities during your visit. Spend overnight at the lodge.Days 23: Chitwan - Kathmandu
Go for a jungle walk or a crocodile canoe safari in the morning and at afternoon, begin the long drive back to Kathmandu, for the conclusion of this memorable journey.Days 24: Kathmandu - Delhi
