Day 1: Arrival at Paro
Fly up to the Paro from the indian airports of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata or Bangalore. Our GHIJ representative will receive you here and arrange for your hotel transfer. Check in a hotel and relax for the journey ahead.Day 2: Paro tour and sightseeing
To embark our journey called the Bhutan trekking tour, we visit Drugyel Dzong, a ruined Fort that was once the stronghold which defended the valley from Tibetan invasions. This fortress was once strategic in Bhutan's defense against the Tibet. On the way back, you can visit to a typical Bhutanese farm house.Days 3: Paro - Thimphu Travel (56 kms)
On day 3, follow the winding road that runs beside the Pa Chu downstream and heads up to its confluence with the Wangchu. Take the road up valley to Thimphu, the capital city from there.Days 4: Thimphu
On day 4, get ready to empty your pockets as we dedicate this day for shopping. Take a walk in Thimphu marketplaces and visit the handicrafts emporium. You can also avail the chance to visit the workshop where all these handicrafts are manufactured. What follows is an afternoon visit to Tashichho Dzong and subsequently a walk up to Sangay-gang. On the way, visit Bhutan's national animal the Takin.Days 5: Thimphu - Trongsa Travel (185 kms)
Your enticing journey to Central Bhutan begins today. The 185 km drive to Trongsa will take you approximately 7 to 8 hours.Day 6: Trongsa - Bumthang (79 kms)
Drive up to the Jakar valley. Folktales of great teacher Guru Padmasambhava dominate this sacred place. From here, you can see Jakar Dzong known best as the "The castle of White Bird." Stop for lunch at Tourist Lodge. In the afternoon hike up to Lame Gompa, a place built by the 1st ruler for his two sisters. You would be amazed to see the old style of Bhutanese paper making here.
Day 7: Bumthang
Today, you would go for a walk in and around Bumthang valley and visit the Dairy farm, Swiss cheese factory and apple juice factory. Don’t forget to grab each of these -- they are the best in Bhutan. Finish your day with a fishing trip to Chamkhar Chu.
Day 8: Bumthang - Nganglhakhang Trekking
The trek route takes you around the Chamkhar Chu. After a long trek, stop for lunch at Tangbi Lhakhang- and then enter the land of the Swans or Ngang Yul with its centre being a swan temple- Nganglhakhang. Cultural programme can be arranged for you in the evening. Overnight stay in camp.Day 9: Nganglhakhang - Ugyenchholing Trekking
We start this day with a gradual climb to Phephela pass, which is the highest point on the trek route. The trail you follow is one of the most beautiful frosted areas of this region and allows one for many stops to enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings. Cross over the river from the camp site to go to the beautiful Ugyencholing village and visit the Royal Residence located there. Overnight stay in camp.
Day 10: Ugyenchholing - Bumthang Jakar Trekking
Follow the trail along the Tang Chu, another river filled with trout. Located on the banks of this river is Tag Rimochen Lhakhang(Temple on the cliff of Tiger Stripes) whose initial foundation is attributed to Guru Rinpoche and second foundation to the "Treasure Finder" Terton Pemalingpa. On the way to Jakar, don’t forget to visit Mebar Tso "Flaming Lake".
Day 11: Bumthang Jakar - Trongsa Travel
Drive to Trongsa and have a hearty lunch at Trongsa Tourist Lodge. After lunch relax and relive the moments of this journey. Overnight stay in Trongsa.
Day 12: Trongsa - Thimphu (185 kms)
Drive up to Thimphu which takes approximately 7-8 hours by road.
Day 13: Paro - Delhi
After driving 56 kms to Paro, our GHIJ representative will arrange for your airport transfer from where you can fly to Delhi airport at the end of the Bhutan trekking tour.
