Most people travelling to India think of stereotypes like practicing Yoga and meditation. But India has got much more to offer. India is huge and that can have an impact on what you see and when you see it. Some things are better to see at night, while others should be seen at day, or when sunset is happening. This is why I created this list. To make sure that you see what you should see in India. Why go around aimlessly without knowing what you really want to see?

Pangong Tso
You won’t be disappointed with this. Pangong Tso or Pangong Lake is an endorheic lake in the Himalayas- Ladakh. The lake is 5 km wide at its broadest point and completely freezes during the winters. As you approach the lake, the sheer size of it starts to become more apparent as you at last reach its shores.
Sitting on the shore of the lake and watching the sunset go down on the far scenery of the mountains, beautiful. This is what creates memories and this place should be on everyone’s list!

Nathu La
Is a mountain pass in the Himalayas-Sikkim and one of the three trading border between the ancient Silk Road i.e. India and China. The opening of the pass has also reduced the travel distance to significant Hindu and Buddhist Pilgrimages sites in the region.
I promise you will not be disappointed.

Arvalem Waterfalls
The Arvalem Waterfalls with an altitude of 70 feet adds unmatched beauty to the already bestowed natural beauty to Goa. It falls in a straight drop and is in its highest glory during the monsoon season. The falling water looks sensational with the thunderous gush of water cascading down the rocky terrain of the mountain behind it. The monsoon rain moils the water of this waterfall into a marshy brown color and makes it look more fascinating.
They are huge! The best times to see this view is early morning, or late evening (sunset).

Marwar Festival
Is an annual festival of Jodhpur to honor the heroes the Rajasthan. The highlight of the Marwar festival is the cultural events, folk dance & music performances. The folk artists give a peek-a-boo into the days of yore, battles and for heroes who are still alive on through their songs.
Among other attractions are the camel tattoo show and polo.
This isn’t something every tourist does. But those that take the leap will have an experience like no other.

Toddy
Toddy bars can be found in and around Kochi. Liquor made from coconut palm is served here. It is best to ask a local to accompany you to one of these. It is not particularly easy on the palate, but a decent way of mixing with the locals.

16 Jun 2011
In: Buddhist Tour

The world must have witnessed the seven wonders the proudest creations of humanity on earth but can it match the aesthetic creations of the nature… The optical illusions and the mirages are an excursion of unbelievable sight to behold…

The beyond imagination is the artistic calling of the nature and all the rarest illusions to the human eyes created by the nature can well be said the eighth wonder of not the world but the cosmos… Let us walk down the globe to unearth the rarest optical illusions for an amazing adventure fiesta…

Magnetic Hill Ladakh, India

The Magnetic hill positioned in the enamoring ranges of Ladakh valley is also known as the Gravity hill and creates an optical illusion from its magnetic propensities. Travelers have illusions that the cars have been pulled uphill by some unknown forces and aircrafts out of the myth of magnetic strength in the region enhance their altitude to escape the fate.

However, it seems like a good joke by the Gravity hill, as the effects are only illusions to the human eye created by the magical Magnetic hill. The enchanting Leh and Ladakh is adventure travelers favorite as well as the tiara of adventure tours in India.

Northern Light of Finland

The fusion of red, green, and blue lights is a natural display of colorful lights in the sky particularly in the Polar Regions. The myth calls it the dance of spirits and in Europe; the phenomenon is respected as a sign from the Gods. Nevertheless, in reality the hypnotic lights are a scientific cause of collisions of charged particles.

Therefore, the Northern lights in Finland are neither dance of spirits nor signs from Heaven but in reality an entrancing nature’s light show free of cost for all.

Fata Morgana, Antarctica

A nature’s 2D film will leave you wondering am, awake or asleep as you witness the bending of horizon and multiple images like a rolling film. Fata Morgana is named after King Arthur’s Sister Morgan Le Fey who was able to reform shapes at will. However, in reality it is an optical mirage occurring due to the passing of lights through the different temperatures air layers.

St Elmo’s fire, Edinburgh, Scotland

It is treated as a symbol of good or bad omen and is called the burning finger of god. It is believed that it brings good or bad news for the individual who witness this magical sight. This mirage is caused by the discharge of electricity from storm clouds over earth.

Desert mirage, Nullarbor, Australia

The most commonly observed illusion in deserts is the view of a lake on distant sand dunes. It is the enamoring ways of nature to tease and flirt with humans. Before undertaking a Nullarbor crossing, make sure your vehicle is in fantabulous condition and you have enough water.

Sun dogs, Timbuktu, Mali

The Sun dogs are the most dreaded symbols of dark ages as it was believed to be an omen of painful days ahead. However, the illusion in reality is caused by the ice crystals making prisms in the air.

The world will decide is it the scientific reasons based on nature to create such magic or some unknown forces are acting to warn the humanity of the unrevealed future…

Along the path of Nirvana to the Buddha’s land; Bodhgaya

6 Jun 2011
In: Buddhist Tour

India has three or four most important Buddhist Pilgrimage sites in the world, the fourth one being in Nepal. For any visitor, Bodhgaya is probably the most fascinating of these four places, being much more of a working Buddhist centre than an archeological site. It’s the most well known Buddhist pilgrimage site in the world.

The focal point is the Mahabodhi Temple where Siddhārtha Gautama sat under a Bodhi tree for 49 days of meditation. The tree growing here is said to be a direct descendant of the original tree under which Buddha sat, meditated and attained nirvana. Not content with having just achieved enlightenment, the Buddha then stood for a week, staring with unblinking eyes in appreciation.
 Bodhgaya- Buddhist destination in India

Behind the temple is the Bodhi Tree where Buddha sat. Actually it is not the original one, but a descendant of it. The original was cut down and taken to Sri Lanka, but the seed later supplied a replacement of the master one.
It is pretty amazing to stand in front of the tree and think of the history. Over 2500 years ago a man sat under this as a Prince and left as a supreme Buddha.

Bodhgaya is a small town with a population of approx 30,000 locals. Around the city you will find myriad of Buddhist Temples and Monasteries representing all the major Buddhist countries of the world.
Buddhist from all over the world flocks to this place, along with many westerners who come here to learn about Buddhism and meditation.

The perfect time to visit Bodhgaya is when the Tibetan pilgrims descend from Dharamsala, during the winter. The Dalai Lama often spends December here. When the Tibetans migrate in mid-February they seem to take some of the atmosphere of the place with them.
